Disney’s Aladdin brings a whole new world to the stage at the Fabulous Fox! It’s not the first time for this hit Broadway musical to be in St. Louis and it certainly won’t be the last. Everything about the experience is exceptional. While the talented performances, special effects, and magical costumes are fabulous, the Aladdin musical set design truly creates an extraordinary theatrical event.
Aladdin Musical Set Design Takes Flight at The Fabulous Fox
Last night my daughter and I were both Aladdin musical first timers. It was fun to experience the excitement of opening night, not at all knowing what to expect from the show. And wow. It did not disappoint.
She’s my Broadway musicals fan!

Aladdin Disney Film
I was a teen when the 1992 animated film of Aladdin hit the scene and it’s still one of my favorites, but it was a “cartoon”. The live action version, while real people, was still from behind a screen. Seeing it with performers on the stage in the same room as you? Amazing. Nothing compares to the live performance of Aladdin.
Here I am when I met Brad Kane, the original singing voice of Aladdin, back in 2015. A fun blast from the past!
Aladdin Musical Set Design Standouts
Broadway musicals are known for many avenues of what makes a hit and scenic design is always one of them. The entire set for this musical is phenomenal. I’m more than willing to say it’s of one the best sets I’ve seen and had to have been created by an incomparable design team. Here are just a few of my favorite Aladdin musical set design standouts.
Depth: I personally don’t know how large the stage is at the Fabulous Fox. However, the set for this musical makes it appear to be bigger than I’ve ever seen it before. A small world of scenic displays is created right there on that stage!

Flying Magic carpet: Aladdin and Princess Jasmine actually take flight and it will have even the oldest in the theatre amazed, but particularly the kids. It’s a simple scene, with just the characters highlighted by the dark sky, but filled with unforgettable beauty.
Cave of Wonders: Stunning gold costumes with sparkle like Swarovski crystals accentuate the magic lamp and the other treasures found deep in the cave.

Market place scenes: It’s the small details like the wares being sold in the market and the gorgeous carpets that really add to the set.

Aladdin Musical Review
The United States tour of Disney’s Aladdin has landed in St. Louis with a cast that has some major Broadway credits! I’m a big fan of Broadway shows and have seen quite a few, even in New York City. There’s now a new contender for top 5 best musical productions. Disney’s Aladdin the Musical has claimed a spot among my favorites. The timeless story of Aladdin transports the audience into a magical world.
The entire show is FABULOUS. Loved the music. Loved the performers. Loved the costumes. Loved the effects. Loved the set design. LOVED IT ALL. New music, old favorites, comedy, magic, beautiful clothes with quick change acts, “pure genie -us” comedy (as assigned by USA Today), and flying carpets right before your very eyes… those were just a few of my favorites. I could seriously go on and on. But I won’t. Because you just have to see it for yourself!
Aladdin Music
You’ll hear many favorite songs from the beloved Disney animated films, some with additional lyrics. From Arabian Nights to A Whole New World and Friend Like Me. Some new songs even make an appearance in this new take on the classic tale and you will have a different time deciding which musical number is your favorite. I really loved Proud of Your Boy.
