Blue Man Group NYC

The first time I saw the Blue Man Group performance was in one of the world’s greatest theatre cities, New York City. I was in attendance with a group of bloggers. We were in the city for the Blogger Bash Conference (which is sadly not currently a conference) and attended Astor Place Theatre for the live show. It was such a great time with fun people. Particularly the company of Tabatha of Oakmont Candle Works and Sara of Cook With 5 Kids. It was also really neat that fellow blogger Destiny of Suburban Life City Wife was working at the theatre!

And of course we were ready with our ponchos in the splash zone!

Where is the original Blue Man theater?

You can still attend the show in New York City at the Astor Place Theatre, 434 Lafayette St, New York, NY 10003.

On Tour Blue Man Group Review

You’ll have an amazing time at this amazing show!

Reason #1 The Blue Guys

These guys are well known around the world. While you won’t be seeing the original blue men (the original founders Chris Wink, Matt Goldman and Phil Stanton perform in New York City) the cast is so talented that you’d never know who was behind that paint. The facial expressions coming from the blue makeup trio are indeed hilarious and just add to the whole experience of the show.

Reason #2 Audience Participation

Blue Man Group is filled with audience interaction and it makes for such a good time. While a few special guests will be invited up on stage, you will also be able to interact from your very own seat by cheering the show’s cast on. Take heed that there is a poncho section (as seen in my flashback photo above), but you can definitely enjoy the show without the worry of getting splashed.

Reason #3 Wordless Comedy

These mimes are pros at wordless acting and never utter a single word throughout the entire show. Yet their comedy shines without a spoken word.

Reason #4 Unique Musical Instruments

I should say unique musical instruments with jaw dropping visual imagery! This is an acoustic experience with so many good percussion numbers that incorporate instruments made out of PVC pipes. Watch for the paint drums. That segment of the show is really spectacular with sound and sight.

Reason #5 Stage

Now this is a HUGE set. It had to have taken many hours to put together. So many big screens and electronic soundboards really add depth to this show.

Reason #6 Lighting and Sound

Strobe lights and video effects abound. It only adds to the energy in the theatre. If you are sensitive to loud noises then earplugs are a good idea.

Reason #7 Fun for the Entire Family

With the total length of the show only being 80 minutes (with no intermission) this is the perfect show for the entire family to enjoy together. It’s also a show with content that is family friendly.

Reason #8 Peacock Alley Is Blue

This was so cool to see. The Fabulous Fox Theatre has turned Peacock Alley (where are all past show posters are displayed) blue with black lights!

Reason #9 Delicious Treats
