When we were housing hunting for our existing home I swore up and down that I didn’t want a stitch of carpet anywhere. I had grown tired of vacuuming our starter home and thought that hardwood floor would be so much easier to take care of. So we found our darling home on a cul-de-sac that was complete hardwood.  I soon discovered that keeping hardwood floors clean AND shiny was quite the battle. You may have saw my battle on Instagram a couple of months ago and I’m happy to say that I won. I’ve learned how to clean hardwood floors, friends!

Make sure to pin it for later!

How To Clean Hardwood Floors Using Only Water

That’s right. I clean my hardwood floors using ONLY water. No harsh chemicals to get the job done and the floors actually shine beautifully. Plus I don’t have to scrub on my hand and knees like I thought I needed to in years past!

All I use is this Norwex Superior Mop System with regular tap water.

Seriously can’t get any easier than that! Meri Haertel, Norwex Independent Sales Consultant sent me this mop to review and it’s by far one of my favorite Norwex products. Mostly because it’s a life saver for cleaning wood floors! The yellow cloth is to be used dry for dusting and prepping the floor for mopping. The light blue (with the velcro showing in the picture) utilizes the same microfiber technology to trap dirt, bacteria, and grime.

The telescopic handle is fantastic for reaching and multiple lengths is perfect for different users of different heights. More on that one later… *wink*

First I use the dry mop pad to pick up all the dust and debris before I start mopping.

I just affix the dry mop pad to the velcro strip and I go to town all over the floor. Personally I like to go over the floor in a “S” formation because I feel like it helps to gather everything up and not miss any spots. But definitely try to see what works best for you!

And here I thought my floors looked pretty clean. Look at all that the dry mop picked up!

Then I’m ready for the wet mop process. I first wet the microfiber and give it a good wring out.

Then I affix the wet pad to the velcro and start mopping. It’s that fast to get started!

For any spots that are extra stuck on I like to use my foot to apply a bit of weight to the mop pad.

Remember how I said that telescopic mop handle came in handy for different heights of people?

This little gal is all about helping and the handle can be the perfect height for her. And I don’t have to be worried about her using harsh chemicals because it’s just water!

Ready to see just how much grossness came up from my seemingly “clean” floor?

This is kind of embarrassing…

Ewww, right?

The positive about this is I can actually just rinse it out and hang it to dry for another use!

Another positive? I can wash the pads in the washing machine and keep using the same ones over and over again! Norwex products are made to last and truly make my home shine.
