Easy Deco Mesh Wreath
This Dollar Tree wreath craft is so easy to make. Perfect as a deco mesh Christmas wreath or with just a few tweaks it can easily be a Valentine wreath. Just get rolls of mesh in pink, red and white for a wreath perfect for February.
Supplies: All items for this Dollar Tree craft can be found in store, at another local craft store (like Hobby Lobby) OR linked below where to buy online.
- 14” wire wreath form
- 3 packages red deco mesh
- 1 package white deco mesh
- 1 package white and red sparkly tulle
- 1 roll red sequin ribbon or color of ribbon to match
- 15 red sparkle pipe cleaners or chenille stems (you can also use floral wire or zip ties, but I think that the pipe cleaners hide better behind the pieces of deco mesh)
- Other decorative ribbon if you choose
- Mini silver Christmas ornaments (or pink hearts if you prefer for Valentine’s Day)
- Hot glue
- Hot glue gun
- Scissors or wire cutters depending on the the density of wire in the of the mess or if you are using burlap mesh.
You should be able to find all of the above at your local Dollar Tree Except for the glue gun. That might not be available. And at least not for a dollar. But I have seen glue sticks at the dollar store!
Directions:
Step 1: Start by cutting your red sparkle pipe cleaners in half.
Step 2: Cut all of your ribbon, mesh and tulle into 6 inch lengths.
Step 3: The mesh wants to naturally curl up after going around the roll. That makes life easier for this craft! Simply roll each piece of mesh into a tighter tube. You’ll want to roll the tulle diagonally.
Step 4: Gather your bunches. Use 4 pieces of mesh, ribbon and tulle; using at least 2-3 pieces of the red mesh for the bottom layer of each bunch. To make the bunches, lay each piece on top of the other, in a snowflake like pattern.
Step 5: Wrap a pipe cleaner around each bunch, twisting 3 times. You will be making 30 bunches like this.
Step 6: Attach the bunches to the wreath frame. Do this by laying the bunch on the front of the wreath, and going to to the back of the wreath, grabbing the two ends of the chenille stem, and attaching them to the two inner wires on the wreath form. To attach, twist the two ends of the chenille stem together 3 times, around the two inner wires. Each section of the wreath form will end up with 5 bunches attached.
Step 7: Lay the holiday wreath on a flat surface and fluff your bunches, until you have your desired look.
Step 8: Apply hot glue to the side of each ornament and arrange around the wreath, gluing them to the bunches.
If you’d like a Valentine wreath instead, simply hot glue pink hearts in place of the ornaments.
Such an easy Dollar Tree craft!
Wreath Making Tips & Tricks:
- The good news is you don’t have stick with your starting point. You can move the cluster of deco mesh ribbon along the wire to add more or make changes.
