Why should kids color?
There are so many benefits to coloring! Here are just a few:
- Creativity: Future artists in the making! Coloring is a great way for kids to experiment with colors, patterns, and textures, and how the different colors work together. All while combining imagination and creativity!
- Improves Focus and Concentration: Coloring is a great way for children to learn how to stay focused on the task at hand, in turn helping them develop concentration and better attention spans.
- Reduces Stress and Anxiety: The repetitive motion of coloring has long been known to emit calming effect that helps to reduce stress and anxiety level.s
- Enhances Cognitive Skills: Children can develop problem-solving skills as they decide how to decorate the designs on the page.
- Builds Self-Confidence: Finishing a coloring page can really boost a child’s sense of accomplishment and self esteem!
And coloring is a wonderful way to build fine motor skills!
How does coloring build fine motor skills?
- Hand-eye coordination: Helping to develop both precision and control over a crayon, coloring requires children to become more coordinated with the movements of their hands/fingers between what they see on the page.
- Pincer grasp: Holding a crayon (or marker) is a great way to develop strength in the muscles between the thumb and index finger. This will make learning the correct grasp onto a pencil easier. Holding and manipulating coloring tools like crayons, markers, or colored pencils strengthens the muscles between the thumb and index finger, which is crucial for many ever
- Hand strength: Coloring also strengthens the smaller muscles in the hands and fingers, which in turn helps to improve dexterity and endurance for everyday tasks like writing and buttoning clothes.
- Dexterity: The practice of staying in the lines requires a high level of dexterity and when children can successfully achieve this task, dexterity and control over hand movements is developed.
Through coloring, children actually use the above skills to practice what will ultimately help with the foundation of later skills like writing, drawing, and even playing musical instruments!

How to Print Large Posters
Printing out as a custom blueprint from OfficeMax to create a jumbo poster is easy to do online. Or you can print and pick up at your local FedEx.
