This last year has been a whirlwind.  In addition to the blog I’ve taken on some consulting work.  It allows me to still work from home and be around my children but I also needed to hire some outside help to keep tabs on the kids while I worked.  We decided to hire a nanny to come to our home each day.  This way the kids could stay at home and I could even eat lunch with them on most days!  Our kids have really grown to love our nanny and think of her as part of our family.  Sadly she is heading back to college after taking some time off.  We will miss her greatly but understand that it’s important for her to get her education.

Just because a student lives in a dorm room or apartment doesn’t mean that he or she can’t take the comforts of home along.  I heard that Big Lots has lots of back to college items so I headed over to my local store and found everything I needed.

At Big Lots everything for back to college is marked and easy to find!

I found some really great throw pillows for our nanny that can be taken from home to school with ease and these inspirational wall plaques matched perfectly.  All to make her new place feel homey since too often college students only take the essentials and forget all about the decor!

Dandy Back To College Gift Basket

Step 1:  Gather items that you would like to send off with your college student.  Remember that Big Lots is the perfect place to find everything that you need.

Step 2:  Get a basket of some kind to hold the items.  I think a laundry basket is perfect because it serves more than one purpose.

Step 3:  Fill the basket with everything you purchased.

Step 4:  Decorate the basket with some ribbon to make it a truly dandy gift!
