School is out for the summer! At our house we are all about summer reading. Especially since the St. Louis County Library has the best summer reading program. My kids are already quickly getting their reading minutes in. Ivy is a fan of The Pout Pout Fish books. There are so many kids books in the series to really boost her numbers on time spent reading!
Kids Summer Reading – The Pout Pout Fish Books
Don’t miss out on the free summer reading printable bookmark. I posted this printable bookmark a few years back and it’s a fun reminder to keep those kids books in view!
During the school year kids are always reading a ton, but when summer comes around there’s the concern about whether or not the habits will stick. Summer is a busy time full of vacations and camps. Taking the time to read can be easily put off for another day. Then before you know it the bad habit of not reading at all has taken hold. The St. Louis County Library takes all this into account and wants to play a part in helping kids to succeed. Throughout the summer our local library offers so many great incentives to keep kids interested in reading. There are fun programs to attend and fantastic prizes awarded for hitting the various minute milestones. Such an amazing summer reading program!

Tomorrow is the kick off party at St. Louis County library and we cannot wait to attend. Last year was quite the affair filled with sno-cones, clowns, games, face painting and more. Be sure to follow along on Instagram to see what this year’s party has in store for us!
