We’ve had quite a few different types of past Halloween costumes around here. I’m sure that we aren’t the only ones. Kids just simply love to dress up. It’s not possible to repeat a costume. Each year is something new and spectacular. I remember as a child being so excited for the big night of Halloween. The planning involved must have been so stressful for my parents. You never would have known because it all came together nicely and I was always just the character that I wanted to be. Halloween was something that I got to pick and my parents obliged. Within reason I’m sure. *wink*
I’ve done the same for our kids. Each year I ask them what they want to be, each year they tell me, and each year I allow them to be just that. Ahem. Within reason. *wink*
Okay that’s not exactly true. Sometimes (like when the kids are really little) we have to pick the costumes out for them. But usually by the age of 2 they know what they want. Then the parental decisions are GONE.
Here’s a look at a few of our past Halloween costumes:
So far we’ve only had one repeat and that was with the baby going as Scooby last year. It was an easy costume because we had the size we needed from when Banjo wore it.
For Banjo’s first Halloween we actually still had Halloween parties to go to.
These days we are much too busy for that. Maybe one day we will be able to do a family theme with our costumes. *sigh*
I’ve tried to throw Halloween parties myself. Believe me I have. Those days are just gone. Right now at least. It’s just hard for people to find sitters and it’s equally hard to have a party with kids involved because well… Most kids need to sleep eventually. Our kids are just all too small right now. One day… At least the kids always dress up, right?
This year the demand has been…
Banjo wants to be a Mad Scientist:
And Ruby wants to go as Ariel:
I know that the big kids would get a kick out of the toddler going like this:
Yoda Toddler CostumeI guess that we will make all of those wishes happen yet again this year. It’s Halloween after all!
Now if I had my wish they would all be going as little gnome children:
Oh well. A mother can dream.
What are YOUR children going as for Halloween?
What have been some of your favorite past Halloween costumes?
Those cute gnome costumes are only on MAJOR sale until the end of the day.
