It’s summer time. Well that’s what I like to think at least. Mother Nature on the other hand was feeling some fall weather this week. What can I say I change my mind all the time too. I like to go against the grain, do the unexpected. Mother Nature and I are kindred spirits. Anyways, back to my FANTASTIC NEW FIND! I found yet another fun and inexpensive way to spend your time outdoors. I decided to stop in my neighborhood Dollar Tree to see if they had their Halloween costume supplies out yet. They always have swords and my boys have been in a serious mood to slay anything that moves (namely each other). They didn’t have any, they did have however this really interesting looking thing in their summer section. Upon closer examination I realized that it was a Battle Saber Handle that you attach to a pool noodle, thereby creating a pool noodle sword!!!

The picture showed a full length pool noodle being used. All I could picture was my 2 year old dragging his around the yard not being able to get the whole thing off the ground. So I bought 2 handles, and ONE noodle. I cut one noodle in half with a serrated knife, and put the handles in.
I wanted to save them for another day when I had shields too, but this evening when My Man J got home from work, our boys needed to get out and run around in the yard, it was the perfect time to get the noodle swords out! They were ready to go after a quick battle in the kitchen to show my little guy how to use it. Seconds later they were in the back yard having a blast!
I didn’t even think about getting extras. Thankfully we had some halves left over from last year so MMJ could play. He totally wanted a handle for himself, so I ran back to the store and picked up a whole fleet of sword handles and noodles. I’m sure the check out lady thought I was nuts, but hey! What if we have friends come over and their kids want to play too?! We have to have enough for everyone! If you have any little person in your life, GO AND BUY THIS ASAP! That’s the complete way to get a pool noodle sword without the DIY. Or if you and your hubby are the type to have an epic sword fight of your own, go get some! It’s a blast. So much screaming and smiling! You can’t beat the price for the amount of fun your kids (or you) will have!
My boys could swing and be crazy, and ultimately not hurt each other. I have sticks on one hand and noodle swords on the other. Noodle swords win, hands down! I couldn’t believe it!
Have you ever made a pool noodle sword?
