The evolution of Shaw’s Garden
Like stepping through the Alice in Wonderland looking glass. The Missouri Botanical Garden, originally known as Shaw’s Garden, is truly a magical place. In 1859 the garden opened to the public. Previously it was the country estate of Henry Shaw, a local businessman. He began creating a garden after visiting Chatsworth… I love that part of his story because I absolutely adored my time there in England.

My kids love playing hide and seek in the mazes.
The new visitor center looks amazing!
It has long been the mission of the Missouri Botanical Garden build a connection between visitors and the amazing plant environment. The new Jack C. Taylor Visitor Center will further expand this mission. As you can see in the video above, there will be so many new things incorporated with this new visitor. I think that I’m most excited about the year-round conservatory!
