Temple Brownies Are The Iced Chocolate Brownies Perfect For Fall
If you follow me on Instagram then you may have noticed that my oldest son and I went on a youth temple trip last week. (I serve in the young women’s presidency of our church.) Temple trips are an amazing time when the teen girls and boys of our faith spend an evening in the baptistry. Each time I go as a leader I’m reminded of Marilee’s temple brownies, because they were a traditional treat to eat on temple trips.
Old Fashioned Iced Fudge Brownies
Marilee Sylvester was a dear friend of my grandparents. Back in the day, before the St. Louis Temple was built, temple patrons had to travel all the way to Chicago to attend the temple. (Before Chicago it was Washington D.C. and before that it was Salt Lake City.) Church members would travel all together on one big bus and Marilee would always make her delicious chocolate frosted brownies for the trip. Thus the spectacular iced chocolate brownies became known as Marilee’s Temple Brownies. And are these old fashioned iced fudge brownies ever delicious!
