5 Elf the Musical Favorites at The Fabulous Fox

I love all the sights and sounds of the season. Tonight I experienced both at the Fabulous Fox Theatre. My son and I attended media night for Elf the Musical and it was just so much fun!

Elf National Tour

For many families the hilarious tale of Buddy, the enormous elf, has become an annual tradition. It’s really no surprise that the hit holiday movie quickly became a modern day Christmas classic. While sometimes producers hesitate in turning hit movies into theatrical productions on the performing arts stage, it’s always a joy when it can be done. When a story is this great, it’s more the merrier in all the ways that it can be shared with audiences.

Biggest Cotton-Headed-Ninny-Muggins

Find out what that phrase means at Elf the Musical!

One Christmas Eve a young orphan child (Buddy) crawls into Santa’s bag and ends up at the North Pole. Buddy’s enormous size and his poor toy making abilities leads him to eventually discover his true identity. Hilarity ensues when, with Santa’s permission, Buddy journeys to Manhattan in search of his on the naughty list birth father who works in the Empire State Building. There he has to face the harsh realities of life outside of toy making, the fact that his dad doesn’t know anything about him (or that he even existed) and all the other unforeseen circumstances along the way. Sure to become a new family favorite, Elf the Musical is the perfect holiday adventure.

The Story of Buddy the Elf

And now for my 5 Elf the Musical favorites…

Favorite Song

Expecting to hear the Christmas music favorites from the film? That’s not to be! There are so many unique songs of the holiday season in this fun musical and not a one is from the movie. In my opinion it’s an entertaining best original score when it comes to holiday family musicals. Filled with so much Christmas cheer! My favorite song goes to A Christmas Song. Artfully done and beautiful, make you truly feel the season that we are now in.

Favorite Character

So many favorite roles to choose from, but I’m going to go with a performer making her National tour debut. Tieisha Thomas plays the part of Jovie and I was so impressed with both her take on the character as well as her talented singing voice. She is most definitely one to keep an eye out for when it comes to future musical productions.

Favorite Set Piece

Very well designed, there are so many different set parts throughout this musical. I particularly loved the NYC buildings. It made me feel like I was right there in all the places that I know and love in New York City. Also brought back memories of my trip there at Christmas time last year. Empire State Building, Central Park, Rockefeller Center, Greenwich Village, Soho, Hudson Street… the list goes on and on.

Favorite Moment

I absolutely loved the part that takes place in front of the big Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center. That indeed made me remember back on the trip last year! The beautiful set and watching cast members skate around on roller blades that looked like figure skates. Such a fun moment in this production of Elf the Musical.

Favorite Snack

I think that I’m getting used to indulging in Clementine’s treats when I attend the Fox Theatre! Tonight I had the candy cane ice cream and it did not disappoint.

Fun for the entire family!

I could go on and on about this show. So much love and the true meaning of Christmas come alive on stage with this holiday musical. I believe that the best way to introduce your children to the musical arts is at the Fabulous Fox. And now is the perfect time for your child to experience the magic of the first Broadway show experience! Performances of Elf the Musical are on the Fox Theatre’s stage twice daily (1pm and 7:30pm) from now through December 23rd and a 1pm matinee on Christmas Eve.

Give the Gift of Musical Theatre

Some gifts are just too big to fit in Santa’s bag! Give the gift of Tickets are still available at the box office HERE. Ticket prices will vary based on location, but I’m a firm believer that every seat in our St. Louis treasure is a good seat. Theaters just aren’t made anymore like this one. Such a large theatre and so many intricate details.
