Once in a while a new musical comes along that is sure to be around for years and years to come. Six The Musical is just that type of production. It’s not at all a surprise that it quickly become a favorite among audiences in New York City and is now touring the country!
5 Favorites for Six The Musical at The Fabulous Fox
It’s always quite the experience to attend opening night (typically also ends up being media night) for musicals that are brand new and never before seen here in St. Louis. My husband and I hadn’t seen Six on Broadway so we weren’t entirely sure what is was going to be like. We both heard that it was an amazing show and that countless people absolutely loved it. But would it live up to all the hype? Sometimes feeling like the very last one to see a musical production can come with that downside. But this show lives up to the expectations!

Six The Musical Review
Six The Musical is a unique look into the lives of Henry the 8th’s wives. While the stories of these women were by and large quite tragic, this musical is light hearted and fun. As for this particular King of England, he may have been infamous but perhaps it wasn’t due at all to his own repertoire, but rather the lives his six wives led.
The women closest to Henry VIII don’t just tell their story set in the typical musical type fashion. This show actually feels like you are attending a pop concert. The strong vocals of all six leads will leave you in awe and you’ll experience lots of lighting visual effects.

And now for my Six The Musical favorites…
Favorite Song
The music is so very fun and catchy. I loved all of the songs, but found myself particularly drawn to the ballad of sorts with Heart of Stone. The song carries so much feeling in the words and the performer did an excellent job conveying the emotion. Amina Faye’s voice is amazing!
Favorite Character
It was so very difficult to pick a favorite because the goal of this musical is to combine the women together as one. Not tying them together due to the man they all married, but as the strong women they were in history. (I hope I didn’t just give too much away!) If I have to pick just one then I think that the part of Jane Seymour was my favorite. It’s hard not to really feel emotion for the character who was so looking forward to her time as a wife and mother only to be met with the tragedy of death following childbirth. As mentioned before, the actress and singer (Amina Faye) also gave such an amazing performance.
Favorite Set Piece
This set for this show is quite simple. Just the performers and band with some special backdrops of lighting. I liked the design. It worked for the feel of a music concert that the production is going for.
Favorite Moment
While all throughout the performance the Queens are on stage at the same time, they feel to be separate as they compete with each other. At the very end the Queens come together as one with their stories intertwining into one song. It was a fun and fitting ending.
Favorite Snack
Themed drinks to go with a show are always just so much fun. One of the drinks for the showings of Six is an absolute perfect fit. I had the mocktail called Beheaded and it was delicious. The refreshing drink consisted of simple ingredients. A flavorful cranberry juice with a hint of raspberry!
