5 Frozen Musical Favorites At The Fabulous Fox

The new production of Frozen the musical opened at the St. James Theatre in quite arguably one of the world’s greatest theatre cities. It first hit Broadway in New York City back in 2018. Before the world shut down. Much like the Disney’s Frozen blockbuster, the stage production musical is pure broadway joy. You’ll be taken on quite the enchanting journey from the Kingdom of Arendelle to Elsa discovering her magical powers to Coronation Day to Anna’s love troubles, and her desire to save her older sister and the town from eternal winter… You’ll relive all your favorite moments as the big screen comes to life.

While the Frozen musical is no longer being performed on Broadway, there are currently 5 different productions of the show taking place around the world: Australia, Japan, London, Hamburg and now right here in St. Louis (followed by more North America cities on this tour)! You’ll experience sensational special effects and it will be truly and unforgettable theatrical experience. Fans of all ages will enjoy this precursor to the holiday season and the kick off to some really great event options for families to attend together right here in St. Louis.

Girls night out! I was invited to attend media night and took my daughter with me. Then I surprised my mom by getting her a ticket to the show! Her birthday just happened to fall on the night we were going so we celebrated my mom’s 69th together at the show. Such a great time. And… 2022 Elsa would totally be wearing overalls and a pair of purple Pro-Keds. Untied no less!

What musical numbers are in the Frozen musical?

With an expanded score and fabulous music you’ll want to sing along with BUT remember this is NOT a sing along so do not do that. This musical really should have also won a Tony for Best Original Song, because it has so many new ones that are amazing. Again it should have won all the awards! You’ll hear all your favorite songs (including several new numbers) in this production:

Vuelie

Let the Sun Shine On

A Little Bit of You

Hidden Folk

Do You Want to Build a Snowman?

For the First Time in Forever

Hans of the Southern Isles

Queen Anointed

Dangerous to Dream

Love Is an Open Door

Reindeer(s) Are Better Than People

What Do You Know About Love?

In Summer

Let It Go

Hygge

I Can’t Lose You

Fixer Upper

Kristoff Lullaby

Monster

Colder by the Minute

How many Tony Awards was the Frozen Musical nominated for and what did it win?

As nominations were coming in during the New York’s Broadway 2018 season, the Frozen musical was spoken of with much high praise. Sadly it did not receive any Tonys. Nominations were for Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical and Best Original Score. Truth be told? It should have won all three.

And now for my 5 Frozen Musical favorites…

Favorite Song

The song I Can’t Lose You is so beautiful and heart tugging. Love between sisters is shown right there are stage through the words and music. But Let It Go was spectacularly done. It was all amazing.

Favorite Character

Can I say all of them? I mean it’s my 5 favorites so I can make the rules… All of the characters are extremely talented. I’ve seen a lot of Broadway and this cast is amazing. The kids will particularly enjoy the puppetry of Olaf and Anna’s quirky humor. Sometimes cast members will perform at the Blue Strawberry before leaving town and I was disappointed to see that’s not the case this time. (The traveling show must go on!) Hopefully someone from this cast will return here one day to perform again.

Favorite Set Piece

Again all of it. Seriously though. Why even do 5 favorites on this one? It’s all the best. It can be argued that costumery is not part of the set, but in this case it most definitely is. I loved how all the beautiful costumes from Disney’s Frozen came to life on stage. Very well done. And all the sparkling ice and snow features? So breathtaking.

Favorite Moment

So many amazing moments with some really impressive special effects. I particularly loved when Elsa causes everything to freeze over. And there’s a quick change clothes sequence that is really magical!

Favorite Snack

When in Arendelle you must indulge in a frozen treat. Especially when it’s in the form of ice cream from Clementine’s Creamery. The perfect mix of cotton candy flavor and frozen cream. I’ll have to get this one again!

Loved The Frozen Musical

Can you tell that I absolutely adored this musical? By far the most perfect family show. I have a feeling that the Frozen musical will instill a love for years of Broadway to come for many! There are great tickets still available but they are going fast! Don’t miss your opportunity to see this fantastic show right here in St. Louis. Get your Frozen musical tickets today HERE.

What’s next at the Fabulous Fox Theatre in St. Louis?

Next month is also filled with so many shows perfect for the entire family. I’ve always loved the holiday season at my favorite theatre. So many fond memories from my childhood with the true meaning of Christmas in A Christmas Carol at the Fabulous Fox!

DISNEY PRINCESS – THE CONCERT, December 10th

RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER, December 11th

CIRQUE DREAMS HOLIDAZE, December 16th and 17th

NUTCRACKER! MAGICAL CHRISTMAS BALLET!, December 18th

ELF THE MUSICAL, December 20th – 24th

So many fabulous shows this season. Now if only Phantom of the Opera was also on the line-up… That is one of my most favorites. But we cannot get them all in one year! Fingers crossed for next year! Stay tuned for more about the upcoming shows this season.
