Disclosure for this Beautycounter review and giveaway:  I received product to keep and review for the purpose of writing this posting but all opinions are strictly our own.

I’m so excited to share with you my Beautycounter review!  But first…  There’s a story here.  A few things about me.  I’m a germaphobe.  The winter weather wreaks havoc on my skin.  I have basal cell carcinoma.

I’m a germaphobe.  For 6 years of my life I worked in hospitals.  These places are supposed to heal and make people well but for the most part it’s a land of germs.  Think about it.  Sick people who need to be made well.  Lots of germs.  So I wash my hands constantly.  It has become a habit.  Great for keeping a person from catching colds but leaves my hands in a bad looking state.

The winter weather wreaks havoc on my skin.  In addition to constant hand washing the cold weather leaves my skin dry and chapped.  Don’t even get me started on the need for constant protectants on my lips.  Or all around my kids mouths.  Are my kids the only ones constantly licking their lips?  I think not.  Their outer mouths are all red and irritated.  Chapped.  Painful.  Not a pretty sight. So the winter weather doesn’t just wreak havoc on my skin.  It gets to my family as well!

I have basal cell carcinoma.  I know that the majority of my problem is caused by sun exposure and not protecting my skin from those dangerous rays.  But I am young.  At least my doctors say so.  The days of only the elderly getting skin cancer are gone.  It does make me wonder if there’s more to it than just sun.  Like the products we are using.  Can they be more harmful than good?  Do they contain chemicals that cause the cancers to present sooner?  Just some things that I think about in my “young” age.

Now let’s go back to the germaphobe bit.  During my time in a children’s emergency room I worked with a nurse named Kim Bartell.  Great gal and very knowledge about all things health.  She is a consultant for this line of beauty and skin care products Beautycounter and asked if she could send me some samples to review.  I said sure.

Now I need to tell you that at first I was skeptical.  How could these products be any different than what I already use?  Well they ARE.

The Citrus Mimosa hand cream smells divine and seals in moisture to combat all that hand washing that I do.

Chapped hands be gone!

The lip conditioner is amazing.  I’ve actually been putting it on my kids chapped mouths and it works wonders.  Over night it solves the problem.  Now to teach them to stop licking their lips…

Sunscreen is a necessity in my life…

And this is the stuff to use.  Say goodbye to feeling greasy and the scent is fresh.

Last but certainly not least…  This.

Can I just tell you that my face ate these samples right up?  This regimen left my skin feeling silky and smooth.  I’ve gotta admit that it’s my favorite from the box.

Kim knew all the right products to pair me with.  She also knows that staying away from harmful chemicals is a concern of mine.  Beautycounter is passionate about that very concern.  Their products contain natural ingredients and don’t contain those harmful toxins that we should all be staying away from.

Bottom line?  I’m sold on this Beautycounter business.
