The great internet debate is BACK. This time people are fighting over the word that is heard from the mouth of a robot. It’s all over social media and I’m not even really sure where it originated. Probably from the tweet below and probable as a result of some psychology study somewhere. But what if you don’t hear Yanny or Laurel? Because I don’t. I hear something different. What does that mean?! Read on to listen for yourself but also to learn what I’m hearing.
What If You Don’t Hear Yanny or Laurel?
This girl Cloe Felman shared this tweet on Twitter and I’m not entirely sure why. Perhaps because she knew that it would create the next blue/gold dress fiasco. Or like the pink/white/gray/teal shoe dilemma. And it indeed has. The internet has been lit up yet again. This time over the words Yanny and Laurel. From what I can tell Cloe is a YouTuber with her own clothing line and quite the following on Instagram as well. Not sure if she ever took a Sensation and Perception class in college but this is for sure an auditory processing type of thing. Whatever the reason it’s definitely generating traffic for her!
Here’s her tweet:

Do you hear Yanny or Laurel?
So here’s the thing… I don’t hear either. I hear YAMMY. What does THAT mean?! Do I have a unique hearing problem? Ha! Definitely something that I’m going to ask my audiologist husband about. Stay tuned. I’ll be sure to let you know what the expert has to say about it. Also an explanation about why people are hearing different words. There’s a reason behind it. I’m sure of it. I just can’t remember all the specifics from my own Sensation and Perception class…
