How To Make An Easy Decorative Mesh Wreath With Cotton Pods And Succulents

I really enjoy making wreaths and have found that you must really like making them too since my DIY wreaths posted here on the blog get so many hits.

Recently I made a Halloween Hocus Pocus wreath out of mesh ribbon. While I love how it turned out, the wire from the pipe cleaners destroyed my nail polish! So I decided to try out other ways to create a mesh wreath.

It took me a few tries to get the look I was going for, but I discovered a method of making a mesh wreath that doesn’t require wire or pipe cleaners. And I love the clean look of this easy decorative mesh wreath with cotton pods and succulents!

DIY Decorative Mesh Wreath Dollar Tree Craft

This cotton pod and succulent wreath is so easy to make. You can create it in any color mesh ribbon that fits your decor. I decided to make two matching wreaths in fall colors.

Dollar Tree has everything you need to make this popular type of decorative wreath. Plus it’s quite the value. Two wreaths for less than $10!

What you’ll need:

All of the below supplies can be found at your local Dollar Tree. I also linked where you can buy the online, but note that I didn’t link to Dollar Tree. (When buying items online from Dollar Tree you usually have to buy an entire case. I personally don’t want that many rolls of mesh taking up space at my house. Ha!)

  • 10″ foam wreath
  • 1/2 package decorative mesh in color of choice
  • 1/2 package decorative mesh in another color
  • 12 inches coordinating ribbon
  • 2 cotton pods
  • plastic succulent

*I made two wreaths for my front double doors. Just double the above items (except for the mesh ribbon) if you want to also make two!

Additional supplies:

  • Hot glue sticks
  • Hot glue gun
  • Scissors

What you’ll do:

Wrap one color of mesh ribbon completely around the entire foam wreath.

Tie ends together.

Wrap second color around wreath. Keeping space in between so other color shows through.

The alternating of mesh ribbon colors will look like this.
