In light of all the DS/Blogger/Facebook drama (yes, I said drama and if you know me well at all then you know that I cringe at drama) I’ve decided that we need to have some fun around here. Some drama free fun. I’ve decided to host a little giveaway incorporating all of the current areas of drama: Direct Sales, Blogging, and Facebook.
Since I’m an independent consultant for Jamberry then it’s going to be a Jamberry giveaway, on my blog, and you can share about it on the Facebook if you would like to. Quite fitting don’t you think? You know. In the face of all of this drama.
But let me first reiterate that it’s going to be drama free so my only request is to check the drama at the door. I’m not going to say much about the current drama because frankly I think that it’s already all been said. Plus I like to avoid areas in which I can have a wrath come down on me. Areas that just wouldn’t be dandy. Because honestly? Who really wants to get a ton of hateful comments or hateful emails? Sounds super dandy am I right? I know enough about what goes down in the world of blogging. I have friends who are attacked almost daily for blog postings that they made THREE years ago. I’ve learned how to tiptoe around such topics and to avoid the controversy. Am I trying to live in a bubble and pretend that it’s not happening? Not hardly. I just don’t want to be involved in it. I started this blog in the hopes of spreading lots of dandiness around. (Please don’t call me Pollyanna.) Getting involved in controversy and drama just would not be dandy. Seriously the internet houses a big scary place. One that many might not even know exists. When hiding behind a computer people can be down right mean. And that goes both ways. I said my piece already on those dramatic areas so there’s no reason to drag it through the mud. Remember? I don’t want the wrath coming down. *wink*
What I will say is my opinion based on what I know. Now I’m not claiming to be an expert by any stretch of the imagination… But I am an independent consultant in Direct Sales, I’m a blogger, and I’m involved quite regularly in the world of Facebook. So it’s almost like I’m an expert in training in all 3 areas of the areas? (If you truly know me then you also know that I can be pretty sarcastic at times.) Some of you might want to just skip ahead to the giveaway while others might actually stick around and ready about what I have to say about the 3 areas. Who knows? If you aren’t involved in one of the 3 areas then you might even learn something new. Here goes…
I got involved in Jamberry primarily for the discount. I love the product, I use the product, I had people notice the product on my nails, so why not be a consultant for it? Along the way I’ve found that in addition to having pretty nails I’m also able to help pay for our family vacations. So for me it’s a win-win. Also along the way I’ve met some really amazing women. These women have become my friends and I’ve become protective over my community. There are women who are involved in direct sales who find it even more valuable than I do. Just in the sense that they are working it full time. They are paying for more than just vacations. It’s their job. It provides them the opportunity to stay home with their children. Is that so bad? Even before I got to know these women… I guess I would just feel guilty if I spoke poorly about a job that someone was doing, i.e. waitress, bus driver, doctor, nurse, teacher, anything really. So I would like to think that I try not to do that. It’s hurtful. Try not to be hurtful. Just. Be. Dandy.
Drama Area #2: Blogging
The reason why I blog is because I love to blog. Back in 2008 I started blogging as a way to stay in touch with friends and family. Everyone had a blog back then. Everyone. My mother-in-law loved reading our blog and gave me lots of compliments about my writing. So I decided to start the giveaway blog as a way to work from home. Yes, we bloggers make some money every now and again. And did you know that we make more money when posts go viral? True story. Sometimes we bloggers are in the constant pursuit of the next great post. Nothing wrong with that. Everyone likes to feel listened to, validated, etc. A little extra attention makes anyone feel good. It’s when we throw all else to the wind in pursuit of that viral post and forget about the feelings of others in the process. In my opinion that is not dandy. I may never write that one BIG blog post that is seen by millions upon millions but would that really be so bad? If hurting others is what sells then I’m pretty sure that I want no part in it. Try to be considerate of others. Just. Be. Dandy.
Drama Area #3: Facebook
This drama area can pretty much encompass all of social media, but since I’m seeing all the sharing of the current drama on Facebook then I’m going to focus on that place. The Facebook place. It’s a scary place at times. It can be full of drama, fighting, politics, controversy, and sadness. At the same time it’s a great place where we can all stay connected with each other. Share each others joys and support each other. As a user of Facebook I’ve had to learn the hard way that it’s not worth getting involved in the drama there. It never leads to dandiness. Never. The cattiness and anger (often times between women) that goes on in the realm of Facebook. Oh my. It’s as I said earlier this evening on Facebook:
As women we should be kind to each other. Don’t tear each other down. EMPOWER each other. And at the end of the day? There’s always, “If you can’t say something nice then don’t say anything at all.” Or… There’s this nifty little feature on Facebook called “unfollow”. Thanks to all for being dandy. YOU make this world a better place. Carry on.
Try to empower each other. Just. Be. Dandy.
Okay. Enough about all that drama business. On with the giveaway!
