The color Marsala. It’s the color of the year for 2015 and it’s MY color. Why do I love this color so much? For starters I’ve been told that I’m a red kinda gal. Lots of people tell me that I look good in red. I’ve been hearing this for years. Even in my youth people were commenting on it. Red this and red that. That it’s my color. But doesn’t everyone look good in red? Seriously. Every hair color and skin tone looks great in red. No matter what people say about the gingers avoiding red… Everyone looks great in red!
So if you are a redhead I say go for it. Wear red! Still on the fence? Need an example to let you know that it’s okay to make the leap? My favorite redhead in red blogger is The Freckled Fox. She’s a redhead and she knows how to work the color red. Basically Emily–Can I call her Emily? I feel like we are friends? I mean I follow her on Instagram and once she responded to something that I commented on. So that makes us kinda on the first name basis, right?–she has all the fashion down. Not just the red options. What can I say? She’s fashionable. Redhead or not and need some fashion advice: Check in with The Freckled Fox lady. Yep. Her looks transcend across all hair shades. I promise. Maybe I can convince her to one day more to St. Louis and become my personal shopper??? Who am I kidding? It’s the day of the internet. She can just directly me from where she is. Emily, help a gal out. I need some outfits thrown together. Okay. Maybe if you just have the time to piece together one outfit for me? Please and thank you.
What exactly was the point that I was trying to make in all of the above? Basically? Everyone can wear red. You, me, EVERYONE. So I need to wear some more red in my life. I think that’s why I purposely bought that red infinity scarf for our family pictures recently. It was a brilliant shade of red and it called out to me at the store. When I look in my closet I see tons of gray, black, and navy. All good staples. All good. But nothing that really pops. I guess that I’m always hesitant to have too many pieces in red? Which is funny if you really think about it because I have tons of the other colors in my closet! So imagine my happiness when I heard the Color of the Year for 2015… MARSALA!!! Now that’s a red that I can endorse the purchasing of lots of. Why? Because Marsala is so very versatile. It’s not just red. It’s so many different shades of red. Basically it encompasses ALL the hues of red. Some might describe it as Burgundy. Others Maroon. The color Marsala can be found in lighter and darker shades. Here are a few of my style favorites:
(Style cred. goes to: The Gap, Shabby Apple, Bridgitte Bailey, Anne Klein, and Jamberry Nails.)
Now do you see what I mean about Marsala? I can flood my closet with it and it won’t overwhelm as just one specific color. It’s not just red red, but kinda red and kinda a lot of other colors. You can’t go wrong with the color Marsala. It’s a win-win in my book. Yay for 2015! The color of Marsala!
