Allow me to share something that is close to my heart and a big part of who I am. Last weekend was an important time of year for members of my faith. It was the 189th Semiannual General Conference of our church. (We have a conference in both spring and fall.) Like the others, this one came with beautiful revelation and a few changes. One of the changes definitely prompted me to create a new Young Women Theme printable.

DIY Young Women Theme printable.

New Young Women Theme Printable

I work with the Young Women at church so naturally the change to the theme impressed me. The girls are important to me and I have such fond memories of being a young woman myself. My leaders were always amazing and there are a few that I’m still in contact with even today. They were part of my life then and now. I hope to be that type of leader for the girls that I’m currently serving.

The old theme:

We are daughters of our Heavenly Father, who loves us, and we love Him. We will stand as witnesses of God at all times and in all things, and in all places, as we strive to live the Young Women values, which are:

  • Faith
  • Divine Nature
  • Individual Worth
  • Knowledge
  • Choice and Accountability
  • Good Works
  • Integrity
  • and Virtue

We believe as we come to accept and act upon these values, we will be prepared to strengthen home and family, make and keep sacred covenants, receive the ordinances of the temple, and enjoy the blessings of exaltation.

Years ago I made a cross stitch of this theme with the values in various colors. In the old days, when I was a youth, the theme was slightly different. There wasn’t a value color of virtue and the ‘strengthen home and family’ bit was not there.

The new theme states:

I am a beloved daughter of heavenly parents, with a divine nature and eternal destiny.

As a disciple of Jesus Christ, I strive to become like Him. I seek and act upon personal revelation and minister to others in His holy name.

I will stand as a witness of God at all times and in all things and in all places.

As I strive to qualify for exaltation, I cherish the gift of repentance and seek to improve each day. With faith, I will strengthen my home and family, make and keep sacred covenants, and receive the ordinances and blessings of the holy temple.

Isn’t that beautiful? I love how this theme reflects on our eternal destiny while tying in the need to strengthen ourselves. In describing, I used the word ‘our’ because I truly believe this is something that’s applicable to all and not just the Young Women of the church. We have been given a great responsibility, but at the same time are so blessed with knowledge and the ability to receive personal revelation. That’s such an amazing promise.

I made up this new Young Women theme printable really quickly to give to the girls. Feel free to print it off for your own Young Women!

I hope you enjoy this new theme and printable just as much as I do!
