I like to try my hand at all different kinds of crafts. What tends to happen is a I see a picture of something on pinterest I really want and I think “I think I could make that.” So I try to pick the picture apart, add my own spin, and hopefully end up with an awesome finished project that I love. I paint things, but I don’t think I could free hand a human that doesn’t look like a stick figure, haha. However, my inspiration had to do with painting so I dove right in. My latest pinterest inspiration was for a sign that says “Good Things Are Going to Happen.” Have you seen it? I liked the thought of having a little positive reminder on my wall.
I was so excited to get working on this. I got my big thin canvas and started sketching out what I wanted it to look like. I decided to forego the sun, I just wasn’t feeling it. I’m not sure why, I guess the artist means it as a “light at the end of a tunnel” idea, but I decided to skip it. This was my spin that I gave to it.
As much as I love the very modern black and white feel, I wanted more color and a little less black in my picture. I’ve always been really drawn to the beach decor colors. There’s so much light and brightness, and the colors really just make me want to snuggle up with a big blanket and read a novel. I decided to pick a grey color as well as a seafoam/ mint color for my colors.
I loved getting lost in all of the work. I’m not done yet! But I just wanted to share with you what I’m doing for two reasons. First, hopefully to inspire you to put your dreams into actions, and second to kick my behind into high gear and get this beauty finished! I want to get it done this week. I’ll post my finished project soon, fingers crossed.
(My Man J and I joke about this picture, I’m not sure what was going on with the light that gave me the appearance of grey hair, but now we’ve both been given a glimpse into our futures. Me on the floor doing some craft with grey hair. I think it suits me… Maybe I’ll try a grey streak the next time I go to a salon? lol)
Have a great rest of your weekend!
