There’s always a ton of toys being given for the holidays. Tons and tons. That’s why I decided to do a gift guide for the top educational toys. Basically fun can also be educational. I’m a huge advocate for education. It’s important for kids to be learning and for us as parents to be involved in molding young minds. So educational toys are a must have for gift giving this year. Don’t just give a gift that doesn’t assist in learning. Give one that is educational!
Top Educational Toys For Holiday 2016
Astronomy – GeoSafari My First Telescope from Educational Insights
Our kids love to go to the planetarium here in St. Louis to learn about the planets and attend the star show. It’s great for kids to open their minds to the fact that there’s a great big space out there! So the GeoSafari Jr. My First Telescope definitely makes my top educational toys list. Young kids will love looking at the moon, stars, and trying to find the different constellations.
Science – Barbie STEM Kit from Target
In the past there wasn’t a focus on girls and science. Now there is and that makes me so happy! With the Barbie STEM Kit girls can celebrate their love of science and learn by developing the difference models. It’s for sure a win for Holiday 2016.
Computers – Code and Go Robot Mouse from Learning Resources
I first saw this educational toy back in July at the Sweet Suite toy event for Blogger Bash and I was so impressed with it. Who else took coding back in college in the 90’s? I love that my son is already learning coding in elementary school! With the Code & Go Robot Mouse kids can learn the steps to make the mouse get to the cheese. This is opening up windows in the minds of children that we adults never had access to.
Ages: 5 and up
Chemistry Kits from Walmart
I loved chemistry in school. Something about making experiments really appealed to me. Walmart has a chemistry kit to fit every age. The My First Chemistry Kit is perfect for the younger kids (ages 4 and up) while the CHEM C1000 Science Experiment Kit is essential for ages 10 and up. Definitely something for everyone when it comes to chemistry gift giving this holiday season.
Building and Architecture with LEGO!
We all grew up getting LEGOS for the holidays. Mainly because they are so fun and can be done together as a family. Plus, they are educational with using art and skills to create. I absolutely LOVE the fact that a number of years ago LEGO came out with a whole line of Architecture sets. My husband gets me a set every year. True story. And this year that LEGO Disney Castle is on my wish list. *wink*
