Lately when I am in my bathroom all I notice is my nasty grout that is in some real need of some grout cleaner. It all started with Pinterest. Someone had posted that they made this wonderful new cleaner for their grout. It included who knows what, I think vinegar and bleach (like every other DIY cleaning project). Well for me I get too scared mixing chemicals and what not. Especially after reading not to combine those two products. I started my search for the perfect Grout cleaner. Walmart only had 2 options, I like more then that. I looked at Smiths, Macys, and Lowe’s. I finally had options at Lowe’s. There was the Magic Grout Cleaner, Rock Doctor, ZEP, and a few off brands. Standing right there I did my research to see which one was best. Amazon was the first website I saw that said it had reviews. Magic had one review, Rock Doctor none, and ZEP had 11. So I decided to go with ZEP. When I got home I read the reviews and once again many comments said to mix it with oxycleaner, bleach, or vinegar. I had decided that ZEP made this product, so I am pretty sure they had intense science behind this and had many test surfaces. If they meant for it to have that stuff in it, they would have put it in their product. So I skipped out on the extras and just read the directions and started to clean away.
It first started with a little section. Then after I saw how much dirt was coming off, I couldn’t stop! I cleaned my whole bathroom (which really isn’t that big).
Here is what you need: Old wet rag, tooth brush, a bowl you don’t care about, and ZEP.
Read Directions and voila! A clean bathroom
Here are my tips: Use a big wet rag, wear gloves even if you don’t have sensitive skin, work on one section at a time. I made sure I worked a 2 tile radius. At first I went all over the place. I got a little excited. Then I realized I need to give a little bit of love and care for each part. Place ZEP in your bowl and use your toothbrush to add the liquid onto the grout. Be liberal with the amount you put on the grout. At first I used a drop or so and noticed the less I put on grout the grout would absorb it, and the more I put on it the easier the dirt came off. After scrubbing with your toothbrush, do not let the liquid dry up! Use your wet rag to clean up your section. Once I finished the bathroom (scrubbed and wiped down with a wet rag) I used my Swiffer mop, sprayed an old rag with bleach, and moped the bathroom up. My husband loves the smell of bleach, so I always use bleach to mop the floor in the bathroom. I waited for the floor to dry and I broke into my happy dance. I no longer look at the floor with disgust anymore!
